Almost a 100 people attended a socially-distanced Black Lives Matter vigil on Haddenham
village green during the summer, organised by one of our younger members, Madeleine.
Not organised as a Labour Party event, but delivered with the support of other local Party members, the images of BLM protesters on Haddenham’s quintessentially English village green resonated far away from this country’s shores. More importantly, the event engaged and brought in people who share our values, and repugnance at all forms of discrimination.
Although the Haddenham vigil was the largest single event organised, the local Party has been actively engaged, and continues to work with the BLM group in Buckingham. Local members produced a poster in support.
We can and need to do more to address discrimination, and to make our local Party more
welcoming to people from all backgrounds, so please feel free to contact our Diversity Officer Robina.
